About our charities

Nerds is a community-based initiative, 10% of all transactions are directly donated to charity. Below is a brief introduction to each charity currently receiving your support. Many thanks are once again extended to all volunteers and supporters of these worthwhile causes. We hope your efforts never go unnoticed or unappreciated.

RSPCA N.S.W
Caring for animals since 1873. The RSPCA N.S.W cares for over 40 000 animals each year and investigates over 20 000 cruelty complaints. Objectives include, prevention of cruelty to animals and the enforcement of laws if needed, increased public relating to animal cruelty, and to lobby for greater protection of animals via legislation. Caring for all creatures great and small, for 129 years, you can make a donation to the RSPCA N.S.W by calling (02) 9709 5433.

The Salvation Army
Caring for the needy for over 130 years, the Salvo's care for those in need without discrimination. Providing shelter, refuge, food, clothing, as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs and much more-thank God for the Salvo's. Newcastle City Care
Providing drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, education, training, work placement, work for the dole schemes, night care, weekend adventure plus programs, life management programs, counseling, legal aid, and legal advice to those in need. To make a donation call Ross Pene on (02) 4927 1888.

Compassion Australia
Compassion Australia - releasing children from poverty in Jesus name. Established in 1972, Compassion Australia is a Christian child sponsorship organization providing aid to children in third world countries. The John Hunter Children's Hospital
Based in Newcastle, NSW, The John Hunter Children's Hospital cares for over 30 000 youngsters each year. Clinical staff are specially trained in pediatrics and treat children from as young as 23 weeks gestation, to 18 years.
Hunter Health recently launched www.kaleidoscope.com.au. This web site provides a central reference guide for families inquiring about facilities available for their children. Extending from the flagship John Hunter Children's Hospital in Newcastle, Kaleidoscope also includes children's facilities at hospitals across the region, including Maitland and Muswellbrook, as well as the wide range of community-based services, mental and dental health.
